    Title: Good Grammar
B-leive it or not, but ur nxt job will not be ezy 2 score if this is wot the cover letter looks like. Even if u r talking 2 sum1 at the company via txt msg, make sure u consider the fact that u r not chattin wit 1 of ur m8s

When it comes 2 applications, try and rememba that u r potentially writing 2 the head of a successful company! He/she does not want to hire sum1 that can't even b bothered to spell correctly.

1ce you have the job & u form relationships wit ur peers, u will soon figure out the boundaries wit formality and what u can get away wit. Until then, keep it formal & honest, & take a min 2 double check ur spelling & grammar, it will def make the world of dif!

    Title: Job Applicants
As an employer can I say I LOVE the hippo.com newsletters – I am so over the bad grammar, spelling mistakes and what I perceive as a general lack of respect.
I get text messages as job applications, cover letters which are cut and pasted and not relevant to the applied job and phone calls for a phone interview when they it's obviously the person is hanging out with their mates in the mall.
Generally I will delete these applications. Unfortunately much to my dismay I sometimes have no choice but to succumb to this lack of professionalism due to lack of candidates. I then spend a lot of time editing the work and turning a blind eye whilst searching for a better applicant. Which is worse as there are some applicants who will never be the wiser because I am backed into a corner whilst I search for the likes of a genuine hard worker who may come with insecurities of “no one will hire me” because…… I’m a mum; don’t have the background and any other interim insecurities, gain the confidence to apply.
Please please don't get me wrong, I love any hard worker who cherishes what they do. It would just make life easier for all of us that have to sift through the smiley faces, you can put a smile on my face if attention to detail wasn't an old fashion quality.

Title: Friendly Email Addresses from Hippo.com
We have been getting quite a few giggles here at Hippo HQ at some of the email addresses we come across which, I must say, can be priceless at times. While we love a quirky address as much as the next Hippo, unfortunately for us (well it's actually more unfortunate for you)... some employers don't!
    Message from Hippo,com
Yes, yes we know... BUT... just a tip, when applying for a job and you are asked to provide contact details, leaving the address "fullysick@chickmagnet.com" might not quite start you off on the right foot (it might snag you a date though who knows).

We suggest creating two email accounts if necessary, one for work related things and one for personal use. Not that we endorse having a creepy alter ego (that's weird by the way) it just allows you to keep your email alias fun and quirky with your friends but shows you can be professional as well.
